Posters evoke the romance of travel – The Lochside Press

Classic images of the Clyde coast feature in an auction of travel and vintage posters next week.

And work by Anna Zinkeisen, who was born in Kilcreggan, is also for sale in the Lyon & Turnbull auction.

The Clyde Coast, by Alastair MacFarlane (1902–1960), has an estimate of £1,000 to £1,500.

Royal Rothesay, by Robert Houston (1891-1942), carries an estimate of £1,500 to £2,000.

Explore Scotland, by Montague Birrell Black (1884–1964), has an estimate of £600 to £800.

Anna Zinkheisen (1901–1976) was born in Kilcreggan and worked with her sister Doris on murals for the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth liners, as well as producing notable portraits and illustrating several books.

The White Cliffs Of Dover has an estimate of £700 to £900.

And Cambridge has an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000.

All the works listed here are lithographic posters backed on linen.

The auction is online from 6pm on Wednesday April 29.
