The school of life is as good a place as any to learn about agriculture. I never had the opportunity to travel the world seeing how different agricultural systems work – getting married and having three daughters always meant my commitments lay at home.

The advice I have always given to students is to travel, as agriculture is a common language. Getting bogged down at home from an early age is never ideal for any young want-to-be farmer.
