Off Grid Girona review: Where travel editors retreat

Published

on

During our days here we seem to do nothing and everything all at once, all facilitated by Gerard and his team. Under their tutelage, we take in the medieval town of Besalú, traverse Banyoles’ famous lake, explore the volcanic zone natural park, shop in the region’s ceramic capital La Bisbal d’Empordà, and see Roman ruins along the Sant Martí d’Empúries coastal path.

We also eat. A lot. Melon and anchovies with prawn carpaccio in Hostal Empuries’ Greco-Roman pop-up, Thermopolium; creative tapas at Vivíssim in Banyoles. All washed down the next day with a 90-minute breathwork session in Off Grid’s yoga studio and several lie downs on the tangerine loungers that surround the pool.

Walkers, bikers, yogis, gourmets, serenity seekers: rejoice! If you’re looking for an understated place that also speaks volumes, give Off Grid Girona a try.
