Jet2 says a record number of passengers will fly from UK airports over the May Day bank holiday weekend.

The operator is reporting a double-digit percentage increase in customers departing between Saturday and Monday (2-4 May) compared to the same period last year.

Popular destinations include Spain, the Canaries, Portugal, Greece, Türkiye, Italy, Croatia, Malta and Morocco.

CEO Steve Heapy said demand shows customers are prioritising holidays.

He said: “Looking at the number of people jetting away with us to the sunshine this May Day bank holiday weekend, it is clear just how much people are looking forward to enjoying their hard-earned holidays.”

The update follows Jet2’s announcement last week that it will not introduce surcharges on any bookings.
