FESTIVAL-goers travelling to the Isle of Wight could face disruption as a yellow fog warning has been issued, with “very poor” visibility likely to impact cross-Solent services over the coming days.

The Isle of Wight Met Service has forecast areas of low cloud and hill fog across the south and west from 6pm today (Wednesday), which will gradually lower through the day and into the evening as winds ease — dipping to sea level and bringing increasingly foggy conditions.

As night falls, the fog is expected to spread across much of the Island and become dense in places.

Although some improvement is possible through tomorrow morning (Thursday), with clearer conditions developing inland, fog is likely to persist around coastal areas.

Jamie Russell, of the Isle of Wight Met Service, also warns conditions will deteriorate again into tomorrow evening and overnight, with further dense fog patches forming, before a gradual clearance during Friday daytime, predicted to be by 11am, although exactly when remains uncertain.
