Glasgow Central rush hour travel disruption after ‘fault’

A signalling fault near Glasgow Central is causing rush hour chaos for commuters.

Network Rail confirmed crews are dealing with a signal fault at Muirhouse which is affecting a number of trains at Glasgow Central.

Barrhead, East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Carlisle via Dumfries, Newton and Cathcart Circle services are all among those affected.

Network Rail says engineers have arrived on site to fix the fault.

Images from inside the station show large crowds gathered on the main concourse.

ScotRail said on X: “We have reports of a signalling fault between Glasgow Central and Crossmyloof.

“Network Rail staff are on site to investigate the fault. As soon as we have more information we will let you know.”
