Friday traffic and travel alerts as gridlock on A50 as drivers in massive queue
As the Bank Holiday approaches North Staffordshire’s roads are expected to be busy. The RAC is predicting more than 19 million ‘leisure trips’ over the long weekend, from today until Monday.
It will represent the most since 2016.
Currently it’s absolute gridlock on the A50 between Uttoxeter and Blythe Bridge. It comes as a vehicle has broken down on the roundabout at the Draycott turning.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix had initially said the A50 was ‘blocked’ but that’s been scaled back to ‘partially blocked’. However a live map from National Highways shows traffic on the westbound carriageway is at a stand-still.
In an effort to keep you moving we will be keeping tracks of everything going on across North Staffordshire’s roads today – from crashes to roadworks.
