Cumbrian escape among this week’s best travel deals
The Times’ travel expert, Sean Newsom, included a discounted stay at Riverain, near Greystoke Castle in Cumbria, in its weekly round-up of the best holiday offers.
Riverain is a converted coach house close to the historic estate and has been recommended for its character and location.
Mr Newsom said: “If you’re hunting a last-minute holiday let, it’s always worth checking Rural Retreats’ special offers section in case you can pull out a plum such as this 15 per cent discount on stays at Riverain before July 1.
“This stout coach-house conversion sits near Greystoke Castle.”
He also highlighted the property’s connections to adventure and legend.
Mr Newsom said: “It is the fictional home of Tarzan’s parents. But what’s even better is Riverain’s double-height, oak-floored living room and its proximity to both Ullswater and the sky-scraping peak of Blencathra.”
He also pointed out family-friendly activities in the area.
Mr Newsom said: “There’s a high-ropes course nearby too, at Go Ape in the Whinlatter Forest, just beyond Keswick.”
